The Necromancer is a very mixed bag. He’s a middle line mage who deals a decent amount of magic damage. His elite missions are relatively hard to get. Both Chapter 5 and 7 has a Necromancer mission. Most of his skills are great but there is one skill that cripples everyone on the team. Let me explain.
His super move is Vampiric Strike. He shoots a beam at one character and deals damage while absorbing health. This happens about four times and if the target dies the beam switches targets. It’s a really good skill, but he needs to be “close” to opponents to use. Salar’s second skill is Kreln Shout. Kreln Shout causes an “explosion” which deals magic damage. This skill has decent range, attacking both front and middle lines (most of the time).
But the skill which ruins the Necromancer (and by extension the whole team) is Exile. Exile makes an enemy impervious to physical damage but increases magic damage by a percentage. This means that normal attacks and physical skills don’t work for a couple seconds. I always found myself hoping that the other team members would use their magic skills. And those magic skills are used randomly unless it’s a super move. I seriously doubt that the damage increase for magic attacks is actually worth it.
Lastly, the Necromancer has a passive skill named Sacred Sigil. It increases magic resistance for the whole team. The amount is actually pretty good. I’d say it gives him and the whole team an edge over rival mages and such.
Final word: Pretty good for magic based teams but needs a magic based team to be effective. Increases magic resistance for the whole team, and his super move improves survivability.
