This guy is probably my favorite character although he’s purely defensive. He’s a fairly balanced front line tank. He has decent magic defense if that means anything. But the cleric is best used for crusade and campaign mode. He’s also easy to level because you can get access to his elite missions fairly early. Chapters one, three and five each have a cleric mission.
Let’s talk about his skills. His super move is Armor of Spirit. It sets up a physical shield for the whole party. It basically gives extra HP against physical attacks. Normal attacks and only a few other skills are blocked with this move. It does nothing about magic attacks though.
His other skills include Divine Light and Counter Curse. Divine Light heals the “weakest” party member by a decent amount. The weakest party member is the most hurt member. The health amount is actually pretty good. Counter Curse randomly gives a party member a magical shield and dispels damaging spells. The shield gives extra HP against magical attacks. It’s only slightly stronger than the Armor of Spirit, but only effect one party member.
Lastly, Ryst has a passive skill. It’s called Blessing and it reduces physical damage to the party. Unfortunately, it sucks! At level 20 the percentage is only 6%! Seriously, don’t count on this skill. Personally I wish they gave the cleric a damaging super move, moved all of his skills down, and dropped Blessing.
Final word: defensive frontline tank, above average magic defense, and great for crusade and campaign mode.
